Instagram testing photo albums is the best thing yet

One of the biggest updates to Instagram happened when they allowed pictures outside of their traditional box crop. Those crop free images kicked off dozens of changes to the service. The app is now testing the ability to share multiple photos and videos in one post. You might have seen brands and advertisers sharing photo albums, but now the feature could be coming to every user.

Instagram Multiple Photos and Videos

A Twitter user first noticed the feature, then reported by DroidLife. While DroidLife wasn’t able to duplicate the function, there have been numerous other reports of the feature. Instagram hasn’t commented to any request, but we know they’ve stealthy tested features before.

Personally, I’m beyond excited about the photo and video albums. I’ve gone to events where sharing one photo or video isn’t doing it justice. I also feared to share three or four pictures would clutter up my followers feed, leading them to unfollow me. Of course, there has been Instagram layout out. You could create collages with all those photos, but then they were hard to see, or key parts were cropped out.

Instagram will likely limit the number of photos to 5, so you won’t see 200 photos or video like you would on Facebook.  Mashable made the feature sound like it would destroy Instagram or the very least change it. However, Instagram is already an entirely different product than last year. Photo albums would make it easier to share without cluttering the feed always.
