Stages headphones let you hear the outside world

Headphones cancel out noise better than they ever have, causing us to isolate ourselves in a bubble. There are times you’d like to cancel the outside world out with noise canceling headphones, but there are also times you’d  also like to hear certain sounds from the world around you. You’d like to hear when someone say hi to you, or hear someone start a conversation with you, or hear a bike rider come flying up behind you. There are hundreds of reasons you’d like to mix what your listening and what ambient noise around you. Sony offers the MDR-1000x over the hear headphones which can cancel out the world around you but raise the volume of someone’s voice. That’s fine and dandy, but you have to actively lift up your hand to the right headphone to tell the headphones to do that.

The Stages Hero are a pair of over the ear headphones which can actively filter ambient noise, raising the volume of voices or ambient noise. You’ll be able to listen to music and mix in ambient noise, so you’ll never miss a conversation again. The headphones are built with audiophile level quality, with sensors to track head movements and the noise around you. The headphones are perfect for when you’re playing VR games – you can isolate the outside noise, but still, here someone calls for you or hear the doorbell ring. The Hero is $299, almost 60% off the retail list price.

The Sidekick is all the technology in the Hero headphones built into an Echo Dot looking device. The only difference is you can use any wired or wireless headphones or earbuds with the Sidekick. It’s the perfect device for when you’re at the coffee shop listening to music but still want to be able to hear when your order number is called. The Sidekick is only $199, a 50% reduction off the retail price.

Both the Hero and the Sidekick had the same audio quality with EMI class D amplifiers, integrated ultra low-power audio codecs, and one of a kind voice recognition algorithms.

No more trying to read someone lips, no more taking headphones off, and no more asking someone to repeat themselves. You’ll never miss a conversation, be surprised by someone sneaking up on you, or not hear your coffee order. The headphones and the sidekick are on Indiegogo, and they’ve only raised $60,000 out of their $100,000 goal.
