PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is coming to Xbox One December 12th

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is a favorite survival shooter that’s a PC exclusive game. PUBG is a hunger game style game where 100 players parachute into a map and loot cities and towns for weapons, armor, and other in-game items. Then players fight to the finish as the map area shrink smaller and smaller. The game is only available on Steam as a beta. Since the beta launch, the game has sold more than 8 million copies and even surpassed Dota as the most played game.

Microsoft became the official publisher earlier in the year. During E3 Microsoft and Bluehole said the game would move from being a PC exclusive to also being on the Xbox One. Now we have a date, December 12th.  Since then, the developer Bluehole has been working quickly to get PUBG on the Xbox One and the PC version to 1.0. While the games are in concurrent development, each platform has separate roadmaps.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds needs the Xbox One to succeed

Bluehole needs the Xbox One version to succeed. They have healthy competion from other games including Epic Games’ Fortnite. Epic Games’ appears to have simply copied the gameplay and idea of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Epic has even gone as far to reference PUBG in their promotion and community forums.

I’ve wanted to play the game for months now since the first round of YouTubers started streaming on Twitch. The problem I’ve faced is my PC isn’t powerful enough to play the game, and I suspect many others who have wanted to play have encountered the same problem. Now those who have wanted to play will get a chance to play an early version on their Xbox One, One S, or One X.

Let me know if you’re excited about the December 12th in the comments below!
