YouTube TV is here in a few select cities

YouTube announced YouTube TV in February but didn’t announce when we’d get a chance to sign up. Now’s your chance to sign up, if you live in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, The San Francisco Bay Area, and Philadelphia. If you live outside those areas, you’re going to wait awhile to get access to YouTube TV. The initial reviews and first thoughts of the service are raving about how great the service is.

If we rewind to February, you’ll remember the service cost $35. It’s a no contract option to the traditional cable bundle. There are a few restrictions like you’re not able to watch NFL games on your phone, or that you’ll need a Chromecast to stream to your TV set.

YouTube TV is making another skinny bundle

The skinny bundle is the cool new thing to offer. Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, and other skinny bundles have started popping up. They offer no contracts but they’re still expensive when you think about the broadband internet you need to have. You cannot escape paying Comcast, Time Warner, or other ISPs who make life a living hell. The first 30-days of YouTube TV is free, and after you pay for the first month you’ll get a free Chromecast. It’s a win if I don’t say so!

We’ll keep an eye out for more announcements on a widespread rollout of the service. YouTube will need to work with local affiliates inorder to get more cities supported. You can head over to the page to get notified when the service rolls out to your city. Until then keep paying for Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube Red!

Tell us in the comments below what you think about YouTube TV, and whether you’re going to sign up once it hits a city near you.
