Rocket League might come to the Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch is a hit among gaming fans, but the biggest gripe is the lack of games. At the moment the only game worth buying is Zelda, with more coming before the holidays. One game I’d love to see it migrate over to the Switch is Rocket League. It’s taken off across the Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, unlike any other indie game. I’ve played hundreds of hours already, but most of the time I want to play Rocket League when I’m out and about.

Even though Rocket League feels like the perfect indie game for the Nintendo Switch, the developer Psyonix hasn’t definitively said whether they’d port the game over. They ported the game from PC to the PS4, then ported the game to the Xbox One, so they have experience working with different platforms.

Psyonic is ‘evaluating’ whether to bring Rocket League to the Nintendo Switch

In an interview with IGN, Psyonix said they are “evaluating” the possibilities and various factors. What they’re listening for sounds like community demand for Rocket League on the Switch. The game on PC doesn’t require a powerful machine, and can even run on an underpowered machine. That ability to run on underpowered hardware likely means it could make the jump to the Switch.

“Just like all the other platforms, we are evaluating it. We’re looking to see what the technical requirements are,” Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham said. “We’re looking to see what kind of true community demand there is. We’re looking to see how it would benefit the community as a whole. So we’re still in that evaluation phase. It’s definitely too early to say that it wouldn’t happen, but it’s also definitely too early to say that it would.”

If you want Rocket Leauge on the Switch, you’ll need to make it known! Tweet Psyonix tell them you’d buy the game on the Nintendo eShop. I’ve tweeted a couple of times that I want the game to make the jump to the Switch. The only limiting factor is the Switch doesn’t always have an internet connection which would limit online multiplayer matches.
