Let’s Hunt on Product Hunt

Each week I round up the best product on Product Hunt for you to check out. There are dozens of new podcasts, hundreds of new apps, and many more products launched on Product Hunt Each week. It’s hard to keep up, but luckily for you, I spend most my day lurking on the site. There were many more hunts I wanted to include, but these were the top ones I loved.

If you don’t know what Product Hunt is, I wrote a little description to help you understand:

Product Hunt is a service where you can share and discover new products. The site was founded byRyan Hoover in November of 2013, with funding from Y Combinator. The basis of the site is users submit a fresh podcast, an innovative app, other tech products, or wild gadgets. From there other users upvote the products onto the front page. The whole process feels a lot like Reddit but with a focus towards discovering products within the technology community.

I’m active on Product Hunt as @leonhitchens, where you can follow me!

Let’s hunt together!

Shop in Messenger by Shopify

Shopify is a powerful platform where you can set up a store to sell t-shirts, stickers, or other merchandise. It’s one of the easiest ways to set up your internet shop, while till managing all your inventory and control how your stores work and look. Now, with their new tool, you can have a bot in Messenger for customers to buy your products.

New Mac Smell Candle

Remember how new Mac’s smell? No, me either. I’ve had the same Mac for a few years now, and I’m waiting for an upgrade from Apple to buy any new ones. One enterprising person has recreated the new Mac smell in the form of a beautiful candle, so you can 40 plus hours of new Mac smell. Maybe, Apple will get the hint and announce a late October Mac event?

Messenger Lite

Facebook doesn’t understand their apps suck; they drain the battery, use up resources, and are slow to load. They have an inkling of their app not being optimized for phones, but their worries are around developing third world countries.  Messenger Lite won’t hit U.S. app stores, but it shows us Facebook can make a smaller and lighter version of their messaging app.

Github Audio

Working with music playing in the background is a must for many, but sometimes lyrics can be distracted and playing classical music always isn’t in the cards. Github Audio is an audio generator that uses events on Github to create calming and fun work music. It’ll help you keep your focus on work, and away from picking which music to listen to.

BeASpectacle

Snap Inc/Snapchat introduced Spectacles, a fun way to record video and take pictures that weirdly resembles Google Glass. The difference between Spectacles and Google Glass is, Glass had more functions than just taking pictures and video and Spectacles are only Sunglasses. They’ll go on sale for $130, but you can try them on now with BeASpectacle.

Giphy Cam

GIFs are the internets life blood, and Giphy is hands down the best way to experience, share, or find GIFs. I use them in Slack, for a keyboard, and through Twitter GIF search. Giphy Cam is their newest app where you can create GIFs with your camera but also add other GIFs from around the web. It’s an exciting way to create more personalized GIFs, which one day could become a meme.
