Netgear introduces better Wifi with Orbi

Between Google Wifi, Eero, and Stary Wifi Routers the advance Wifi market is quickly becoming overcrowded. All the routers, including Orbi from Netgear, promise to blanket your home with high speed, dead zone free Wifi. They all work the same too; they use a central Router and then one or two satellites that are glorified Wifi repeaters.

The Orbi is relatively expensive but similarly priced to other routers. At $399, you get one router and one satellite to extend your Wifi across the home. What makes the system stand out from others is:

  • AC3000 Tri-Band WiFi makes Orbi faster than other WiFi Systems
  • A dedicated 5Ghz band allows for better AP/Band steering
  • A 2-kit Orbi system covers up to 4,000 square feet, giving you more coverage with fewer devices

The tri-band system means you’ll always have lighting fast internet no matter how many devices that are on the network. While the devices look big and somewhat ugly, they do provide a better experience than others on the market. If prices start to come down more consumers will not only buy them, but ISP would be more willing to issues subscribers these systems. Right now, most homes use the Wifi routers Time Warner or Comcast issue them, and they don’t bother with trying to buy and set up their own Wifi system.

Tell us in the comments below what you think about the Orbi from Netgear, and whether you’re going to buy one for your home!
