DJI Mavic Pro is a direct competitor to GoPro’s Karma drone

GoPro unveiled the highly rumored consumer drone of theirs; GoPro Karma. The idea around the drone was to make it small, rugged, and easily portable. They made their ‘wings’ fold in so they could condense the drone into a backpack. While the drone was small and portable, no one could ignore the fact their direct competition, DJI, still had superior drone technology. The Karma, lack flight avoidance and other smart features making the drone dead simple to fly. They did opt for a detachable gimbal and introduced new action cameras.

Now 8 days after GoPro’s event, DJI announced the DJI Mavic Pro; an answer to the Karma drone. The Mavic includes DJI flight avoidance, smart flight features, and GPS to provide the best flying experience inside and out. However, one notable change in the drone is the size; it’s smaller, as small as a water bottle when folded up.

There’s also a 4K camera built into the drone on a 3-axis gimbal, and with active track and other smart flight features you’ll get professional shots with little to no effort. As Casey Neistat, drone enthusiast and one the best vloggers around, said on Twitter DJI is “straight up raging war with GoPro Karma at this point.”

DJI priced the Mavic Pro at $999, which is slightly higher than the $799 price of the Karma, but you’ll get features that make you a pro at flying the drone. Either way, DJI has a consumer drone that’ll fold up and fit in a backpack without much effort. It’s a little bit of a coincidence DJI introduced the Mavic only days after GoPro introduced their Karma drone, but it’s only 8 and you can buy the Mavic Pro drone now!
