Kick start the world’s most compact electric skateboard

Electric skateboards have become a popular way to commute to work and a fun way to cruise around town. The high cost of electric motors has kept electric skateboards in the ballpark of $1,000 or more. Sure, there has been a few lower cost, budget boards, but those boards have smaller batteries or inferior decks. The boards also available are mainly longboards, with flexible decks for a smoother ride around town. The Elwing electric skateboard launched an Indiegogo campaign with the fix to all those pain points of electric skateboards.

The Elwing electric skateboard has launched an Indiegogo campaign with the fix to all those pain points of electric skateboards. Their electric skateboard uses a 31-inch nose and tail flared up deck with a battery that has a range of 7 miles. The board has a top speed of 18 MPH, which is insanely fast for a board that small.

The board is going to retail for $750, making it still relatively expensive but cheaper than the Boosted Board. If you act quickly, and willing to wait until April 2017 for the board to ship, you can buy the board for only $499.

The Elwing is a lightweight, only weighing 9lbs, to the larger longboard electric skateboards. I’m excited to see if anyone uses the board to do tricks, or ride at a skate park. People have tried to do tricks with longboards, but it’s too large to do an ollie or other tricks.

Tell us in the comments below what you think of the Elwing skateboard, and if you’re going to pick up one while they’re still $499.
