Google’s software is all based on the Linux Kernel, which means all of Google’s Operating Systems like Chrome OS, Android, and Chromecasts all run off of a Linux-based system, which is fine, but comes with some cons. It’s ideal for operating systems on desktops and mobile devices, but for technology like GPS units and In-car dashboards, It’s not the best. So why is Google doing this? They have multiple platforms with Android, Chrome OS, other devices running different operating systems.
