Search all your files on the desktop or in the cloud with Meta Search

We’ve all seen our parents computers with hundreds of files on the desktop screen. It’s painful to watch, and frankly improbable to find anything when you need it. Well, the sight of hundreds of files on a desktop screen sparked one man to create simple, which later morphed into Meta Search. The app lets you quickly search your desktop and web services like Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, Gmail, and more.

Meta connects your device and cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive altogether so you can search all your files on the Meta Search app. Meta then opens the files in their applications so you can go directly from thinking about a file to editing the file in the app you’re familiar with in seconds. This prevents you from having to download files, edit them in different software, and reupload them.

The app is in a private beta, and there is a free tier. The free version you’ll get two cloud integration, but if you want more there is a pro-tier for $10 a month which gets you unlimited cloud integrations. While $10 a month seems high for search, especially when they call them Google for file search. The ability to search across multiple cloud services is nifty, and the service works like a charm. It’s allowed me to have multiple cloud services from Google Drive in the browser to using Dropbox on my Macbook.

Tell us in the comments below what you think about Meta Search, and tell us if you’d pay $10 a month to search all your files no matter where they’re stored.
