Google Allo is a new smart messaging app

At Google I/O, the company announced a new smart messaging app which is secure end to end. Google Allo, includes smart features, including built-in access to Google’s new assistant, and will be cross platform. The messaging app will be available on iOS and Android this summer.

The messaging app has standard features like photos, emojis, stickers, but also includes smart canned messages which can be sent when you receive a photo or generic text. The intelligent assistant can help you during a conversation and is a lot like Okay Google. For example, if you’re planning dinner with friends you can ask Allo to help you find a restaurant and make a reservation thanks to a partnership with OpenTable.

The app will likely replace Hangouts in the future, but in Google fashion, they’ll offer the same apps in conjunction together. We’re excited to play with the app once it hits App Stores this summer!

Tell us in the comments below if you’ll use Allo with your friends and family!
