Battlefield 1 is a WWI-themed game

The newest game from Dice EA is a WWI-themed Battlefield, and it’s confusingly named Battlefield 1. The game is set before Battlefield 1942, and is the earliest shooter in the franchise thus far. The release trailer gives us a glimpse into the gameplay and the storyline from Battlefield.

Interestingly enough, Call of Duty, Battlefields biggest competitor, is going further into the future with space ships and zero gravity combat. A lot of the community from Call of Duty was outspoken when they said they wanted a game where we travel back into time and had boots on the ground, instead of CoD’s jetpacks and augmented gameplay.

The name is right, it’s Battlefield 1, even though the previous game was Battlefield 4. The game will launch on October 21st, 2016 a few weeks before Call of Duty will have it’s official launch. Dice EA is pulling from history with their gameplay with Zeppelin bomb raids, and horses, and tanks all on the Western Front.

The most exciting part of the release is the horses, and how we’ll have a single player story mode. Battlefield 3 and 4 had stories, but they were lackluster, and fans praised the game for their massively open online maps where 64 players clash together. The Battlefield will still do the massive online maps, but they’re also going to build a story to play when you’re not online.

If Battlefield 1 becomes a hit the franchise could win this year’s battle for game supremacy. Tell us in the comments below what you think about Battlefield 1!
