Pulse lets you control your DSLR from your smartphone

A lot of DSLRs and mirrorless cameras come equipped to transfer photos wirelessly, control the shutter from afar, or shoot video when you cannot be behind the camera through wifi and a smartphone app. The problem with the remote camera apps is they’re poorly designed, lack features or the well designed and full function apps cost more than you’d like to spend on a remote shutter app.

The Pulse from Alpine Labs solves all those pain points, and can be retrofitted on dozens of cameras even if they don’t feature Wifi. The Pulse plugs into the camera via USB and connects to your phones companion app through Bluetooth. The device is available for pre-order, and if you order now, you’ll only pay $89.99, saving $10 0ff retail price.

With the Pulse, you can control the shutter speed, ISO, and aperture all from the Android or iOS app. In addition to those great features, the app includes advanced settings for time-lapses. The advance time-lapse features sound like the most appealing feature. There are a lot of apps that try to help you with them, but they either don’t include advanced features or are extremely limited unless you pay to unlock features.

The Pulse is a sleek designed gadget with up to 24 hour battetry with an equally well designed app. If you have tried to shoot a time-lapse or use a remote camera app from the camera’s manufcaturer you’ll understand how clunky the process is to turn on the wifi, discover you’re phone, and than connect the camera and phone together.
