Google Play Music offers a family plan for $14.99 a month

Google Play Music is starting to roll out a family plan for $14.99 a month. Apple Music, Spotify, Rdio (This service is dead fyi), and other streaming services offer family plans for up to six family members or friends, but Google’s offering is definitely the best value. The family plan also includes YouTube Red, a $120 value for the price of $14.99.

Each family member or friend has an individual profile, library, recommendations, playlists, and listening history. The app works on Android, iOS and the web. YouTube Red works across all your devices along with your set-top box or other tablets.

Spotify offers a family plan but cost more and the company said it would match prices on other services. With Spotify rumored to have some tracks only playable with a premium account it could make families friends and even coworkers join a family plan together.

Sharing these family plans goes against the music industry. They hated users sharing their digital songs and albums, but they may be warming up to users sharing accounts and music. Netflix has embraced users sharing one account, and a music streaming service for only $15 for up to 6 people is a steal.
