Apple introduces a battery case for the iPhone

Apple’s made cases for their iPhones before, but they’ve always been slim minimal cases. Now Apple’s unveiled a battery case for the iPhone 6 or 6s. The battery case is $99, and is taking on Mophie who’s made battery cases for a range of phones for years. The Apple battery case has a different look and design than any Mophie case.

The case is smart meaning the case battery level will be displayed on the notification center and lock screen. It features smart charging and passive cell antennas so we won’t have antenna gate all over again.  It’s more than what Mophie does or hundreds of other battery cases on the market. The look though is an area where many on Twitter saying the phone looks like your phones pregnant.

The case is Apple saying their iPhone 6 and 6S have battery issues. The battery isn’t as large as many other Mophie’s or battery cases. The case will get the iPhone to another charge or at least very close. While I don’t know if everyone would choose the Apple case over more well established cases like Mophie, I’m a fan of Apple’s bandaid like design and that it’s not huge or bulky.

Tell us in the comments below if you’re going to pick up a Apple battery case for $99 at your local Apple store?

  1. I have the 6, and at the end of the day I am usually never below 40% even with use during the day.

    • I always run my phone down to 5% during a day. I’m not sure if I’m a power user, but I know a lot of my friends who still have trouble getting through the day. While they say its for the traveler they also know its for the everyday user too.

  2. I have never need to charge it except when I go to bed at 12AM, sometimes later, and I get up at 7AM. I have used it to go on Twitter and check my postal tracker, and some news on Timeline this morning and it’s still at 100%. As noted by Apple staff and Tim, this was made for people who travel and go camping. Not for daily use.
