Sling TV to get HBO

Sling TV on Wednesday announced it’ll offer “linear and Video-On-Demand (VOD) content from HBO,” and it’ll be available before April 12. HBO is quickly becoming an easy service to purchase online. Apple TV already has the HBO standalone service, and now Sling TV will be the second service to purchase HBO Now services. The HBO channel and VOD will be $15 ontop of the $20 for Sling. It’s unusual for HBO to not directly offer HBO Go from their own website, but does follow their method of bundling their service with other TV channels and services.

The price of cord cutting is become higher and higher, and is almost as much as a cable bundle. Sling already offers ESPN, AMC, TNT, TBS, Cartoon Network, and HBO for $40. This bring the total to $40 a month for these channels. On top of that Netflix, Hulu cost $20 which brings the total to $60. That’s almost as much as basic cable, but you do get better support from these companies than a ISP like Comcast.
