The Galaxy S6 has a removable back, sort-of
We reported along with the vast majority of tech blogs that the Galaxy S6 won’t have a removable battery or expandable storage. Now the owners manual shows that the battery can be exchanged with a little work and a lot of time, but we wouldn’t recommend it for the faint of heart.
“These instructions are only for your service provider or an authorised repair agent,” the manual reads. “Damage or faults caused by the unauthorised removal of the battery are not covered by the warranty.” The back is protected with the back, 13 screws, a circuit board, and then the battery can be removed.
The batteries deteriorate over time and being able to replace it over time will be a win. While only people with experience will be able to replace the battery, and no one will be able to carry an extra battery around with them. Samsung clearly understands some users will still attempt to remove the battery to continue the phone after a year or two.
