Tumblr merchandise on sale, proceeds benefit Net Neutrality

Tumblr has tapped into its community of artists to design new t-shirts that will benefit the Media Democracy Fund, which advocates for net neutrality.  The limited edition T-shirts are designed by artists Cindy Suen, Trace loops, Mikey Burton, Santtu Mustonen and Pasquale D’Silva. The t-shirts will be released each month over the course of the next five months.

A Tumblr spokesperson explains that the company chose artists who have been instrumental in contributing original content to the website, and looked for people with different artistic visions and aesthetics. The artists were paid to design T-shirts in whatever way they wanted, with no artistic direction from Tumblr.

The designs are amazing, and I cannot describe how excited I am about this project. I like some of the designs so much that I can definitely see myself picking up more than one. In traditional Tumblr fashion, this first design by Cindy features cats and pizza. If you don’t enjoy cats or eat pizza 24/7, it’s fair to say that you haven’t achieved the full Tumblr experience.

What do you think about the new shirts, are they a win or fail in your book? Let us know in the comments below!
