New Budget GoPro Appears in Leaked Video

The GoPro action cameras have had great success in the past year with thousands of adventures, athletes, and normal consumers buying the action camera to film their adventures that include dirt, sand, water, and other extreme environments. However, the price of the GoPro’s have always stopped some consumers from buying the action camera. This new GoPro budget camera will be sub $200, which will make the device more accessible to a wider customer base.

The new budget camera will not have a touch display, no 4K video mode and no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity. What it will have is 1080p30 and 720p60 video, a non-removeable waterproof case, 2.5hours of battery life and a SD slot that can handle up to 32GB of storage. The Russian-language, English-subtitled video gives a closer look at the camera alleged to be GoPro’s simplest and most affordable addition to the Hero line.

The action camera appears to sport the same specs as the White Edition, but lacks some of the features which current GoPro users have come to love.  The video also mention the GoPro Hero4, which will supposedly be able to shoot 4K video at 30fps, and 1080p video at 120fps. An official announcement is expected to hit on Oct. 8.

This will be GoPro’s first product announcement since going public earlier this year. This could be the first real test of the company, and forge a path for the coming years. The GoPro camera is still associated with the action-adventure crowd, but if GoPro could expand to everyone it would be a big win for the newly public company.

Tell us what you think about the new budget focused GoPro, and the rumors of the GoPro Hero4. If you don’t do anything action worthy would you still buy a budget GoPro for the sake of having a cameras that water, dirt, and sand proof?
