Instagram Update Adds Powerful Editing Tools

Today Instagram released new tools for photo editing, allowing users to edit brightness, saturation, contrast and more from inside the app. Instagram has always been focused on edited photos, and by slapping filters on the pictures you could seriously adjust their appearance before sharing them. Now the Facebook owned app will give you more control over how your photos are filtered.

“You take a photo to capture a moment, but often what you see in the photograph doesn’t feel the same as what you remember,” Instagram said.

The new tools can be found within the new wrench icon in the filter menu. In addition to editing the strength of the brightness, saturation, you’re also able to control the strength of the filter by double tapping the filter.  Instagram says the editing tools are meant to give users more flexibility when posting pictures, and to help everyone realize their best selfie.

The update is rolling out today for both iOS and Android, so make sure to check the Play or App store for the update.
