Twitter and Square Co-Founder Jack Dorsey has joined the Disney board of directors with names like Steve Jobs. The company announced monday his spot on the board, and said he’s acting as an independent director “effective immediately.” He tweeted a quote from Disney’s founding father, Walt, to commemorate the announcement: “I only hope we don’t lose sight of one thing — that it was all started by a mouse.”
Dorsey will bring his entrepreneurial and technological perspective to Disney. Company head Bob Iger said of the appointment, “The perspective he brings to Disney and its Board is extremely valuable, given our strategic priorities, which include utilizing the latest technologies and platforms to reach more people and to enhance the relationship we have with our customers.”
