Google Play Newsstand Released

Google’s never been able to keep a secret with Nexus devices always having code snippets hidden with future updates. The Google Play Newsstand will consolidated Google Currents and Google Play Magazines. The app will allow you to read newspapers, magazines, and RSS feeds from websites. This is one of the most comprehensive apps compared to competitors like Flipboard.  Newsstand is great because before Google did not offer newspaper subscriptions which many people had requested.

Articles viewed through the new Newsstand app will be specifically formatted for your tablet or phone, complete with images, audio or video inline. And they’ll be available offline so you can can catch up on your news, even if you happen to be on one of the few flights left in the US without WiFi.

This is showing that even more newspapers, magazines, and publications are going to go digital. This app could also bring more newspapers digital, and offer them a way to monetize their content through a service millions of people use. The app will use your reading history to recommend articles that may relate to your interest or show trending news all on the homescreen. What do you think of Google Play newsstand?
