Google Nexus 5 Rumor Round Up

We all know Google is releasing Android 4.4 KitKat in the coming weeks, however we only have blurry shots of the Nexus 5. We also have FCC filings of a new Nexus phone that is rumored to be announced at a October 15th event. In addition to a new OS and handset we should see a tweaked appearance for Android, SMS integration with Hangouts, revamped mobile payments, and always listing feature similar to the Moto X.

We’ve got a pretty good understanding of what’s to come with the Nexus 5. LG will still be building the handset, which means we could see the same low price as the Nexus 4. The Nexus 5 will supposedly cost $299 for the 16GB model and $399 for the 32GB model. LG and Google may tackle some of the large complaints that Nexus 4. Based on the FCC filings the LG Nexus 5 will support LTE and HSPA+ connectivity. Customers on AT&T, T-Mobile, and hopefully Sprint and Verizon will get LTE connectivity.

As other handset makers are making higher resolution screens that are bigger. The FCC filings show the Nexus 5 having a 5-inch, 1080p display that may be like the LG G2. If the screen quality is equal to the G2, than that will be a major win for Nexus owners. The screens sharp display brings more accurate colors, along with an overall better look.

A leaked manual for the Nexus 5 show the device would include a 8-megapixel camera. Other rumored specs include a Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB of RAM, and a 2,300mAh battery. The Nexus 5 will reportedly sport NFC like past models, along with wireless charging. This could all change with the device launch, and for a $299 starting price what is included already looks to be a kick butt Android device.

Google’s Next Flagship device should be announced this coming week, with it hitting the market not long after that. Android 4.4 KitKat could bring a lot of changes to other Android handsets even if we don’t see another Nexus device this week. If any more news or rumors pop-up, we’ll be covering all the latest here. Tell us what you think about the rumored specs and new parts of Android 4.4?
