Google Acquires Contact Sharing App Bump

Bump the data sharing app Bump has been acquired by Google, according to a blog post written by CEO David Lieb. The app is different than most data sharing apps, the app does not use NFC to enable the data sharing. There is limited information on what the terms of the deal are, though the stand alone app will stay around for now. What Google will do with this app should be interesting considering they already have sharing of data between Android with Android beam. What will happen to the iPhone app in the future should also be considered because Apple has been moving away from Google owned services recently.

Samsung has a sharing app that exclusively works with Samsung built phones so this could be a play from Google to stop the heavy skinned version of Android Samsung has built. What do you think about Google buying Bump? Tell us in the comments below!
