Xbox Points Are Finally Dead

We can finally say goodbye to Microsoft Points, which were severally broken. Microsoft has now opted to go with local currencies instead, which will make buying games and map pack much easier. This means no more left over points when you buy 800 points and the game is only needs 600 of those pesky points. Now you don’t have to worry about losing those point you still have on your account now. Microsoft will convert the left over points on gamers accounts to their local currency.

120 points is about $1.50, but that could change once Microsoft does continue to convert points to real money. Microsoft representative told Polygon “Today we started rolling out the official release of the 2013 Xbox Live Update. To ensure a stable release, this will be a gradual deployment across members and regions. Don’t panic if you don’t see an immediate update, just keep checking back in.” The software update appears to only change the points system, and no other changes to the dashboard or any features.

This update is a welcomed change, and I won’t complain on bit about it. I made sure to never use the points system, and glad that the small but important change is happening so soon. Tell us what you think about Microsoft’s change to the point system.
