Remo+ over the DoorCam let’s anyone watch their doorstep

To prevent package theft in the suburbs, many homeowners install a video doorbell from Ring or other companies. The problem with a video doorbell is they need some installation and aren’t friendly for renters or apartment dwellers. Remo+ is working on the problem with the DoorCam that’s an over the door video camera solution.

The DoorCam is battery powered with the batteries and all the connectivity equipment being stored on the inside. Outside is the camera and speaker and some counterweights to prevent the whole device from falling off when you open or close the door. The camera has a 160-degree field of view and offers night vision. Since the wifi chip is inside the house, you won’t need to worry about having a poor connection or needing to add another router to your mesh system.

Remo+ DoorCam lets renters, apartment dwellers, and homeowners watch their doorstep

The idea of having an over the door camera is exceptionally appealing if you’ve had any packages stolen from your front door. If you’re a renter, you’re not able to make changes to the home, and trying to convince a landlord to change the doorbell is a nightmare.  Being able to just slide the camera on your door without any tools or approval is the best idea yet.

At $200 it’s priced similarly to the Ring doorbell and other video doorbells. The only big drawback here is this is a startup company. They could fail, and the video could stop streaming online. Not only that, but this is an early product still, and there are still some kinks to work out. The plus to all of this is you don’t need to worry about the Wifi connection dropping because of a brick wall or a thick door.

Let me know what you think about the Remo+ DoorCam! Would you want to buy this camera for your apartment or rental house?
