Pebble launches another Kickstarter

Pebble has returned to their roots and launched another Kickstarter to unveil three new products. They’re launching the Pebble 2, Pebble Time 2, and the Pebble Core. The Pebble 2 is a refreshed low-cost Pebble with fitness tracking built-in, waterproof to 30M, and comes in multiple playful colors. The Pebble Time 2 is a premium upgrade of the Pebble Time with a larger and brighter screen, built-in heart rate monitoring, and features updated versions of Pebble Health. Then lastly the Pebble Core, which is a new type of wearable from the smartwatch company. The Pebble Core connects to your cellular network so you can leave your phone at home but still have notifications and fitness.

The Pebble Core is the biggest change for Pebble, and overall it looks like their doubling down on fitness tracking. The Core uses your cellular network you already have so no extra costs or sign up process. The Core can send emergency SOS if something does happen when you’re out without your phone. The idea is innovative, but I would love if this could have been built into my Pebble smartwatch instead of an extra device.

The Pebble 2 and Pebble Time 2 are more tamed updates to help the company double down on fitness. Smart watches from Pebble have focused on notifications and a timeline of information, but with stiff competition from Google and Apple they’ve pivoted towards health and fitness tracking. The only difference for the Pebble Time to Pebble Time 2 is the heart rate monitor and larger screen.

The Pebble 2 is $99 with $129 retail, the Pebble Time 2 is $169 with $199 retail, and the Pebble Core is $69 with a retail of $99. You’re going to have quickly to grab early bird pricing, but it’s worth getting your Pebble’s before anyone else. This is Pebble’s third time launching a campaign on Kickstarter, with the previous two breaking records. This Pebble 2, Time 2 + All-New Pebble Core Kickstarter could crush Kickstarter records once more.
