Microsoft in Talks to Buy MineCraft Creator Mojang

In a sea of Apple news today Microsoft wanted a slice of the pie, and they went about it by doing a controlled leak to the Wall Street Journal.  Microsoft could be in talks to purchase Mojang, the creator of Minecraft, The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday. I’ve followed thee company from it’s inception way back in 2009.

Minecraft is one of the world’s most successful games currently, with more than 50 million copies sold across PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and mobile. The game came to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles last week. The company has worked on smaller game projects however none of them have been as wildly popular as MineCraft. The game is popular because its open worlds, ability to mod, and the universal age of anyone who can play.

The company is reportedly going to spend $2 billion to buy the video game maker. That’s a small price considering how popular the game is and how it will continue to sale to new customers daily. Neither company has publically replied to confirm or deny these talks, but I don’t see why Microsoft would want the company.

Tell us in the comments below what you think about Microsoft purchasing Mojang!
