Paper By FiftyThree CEO Ask Facebook to Stop Using ‘Paper’ Name

Facebook recently introduced Paper which is an impressive way to explore Facebook. The Paper app from Facebook recently hit the iOS store, and its been a hit among users. The name Paper however has already been in use over at FiftyThree which is a drawing app on the iOS App store.  FiftyThree CEO Georg Petschnigg took to the company blog this morning to ask that Facebook “stop using our brand name.” He says that developers, the press, and others online were confused by the name. The Paper app by FiftyThree has garnered awards and praise for the amazing features.

“There’s a simple fix here,” Petschnigg says. “We think Facebook can apply the same degree of thought they put into the app into building a brand name of their own. An app about stories shouldn’t start with someone else’s story.” If Facebook refuses to change the name we could see a lawsuit which would be in favor of FiftyThree. Facebook has declined to comment on changing the apps name, but Facebook did apologize to FiftyThree.

I’ve already used the Paper app from Facebook and its a much better way then using the old Facebook app. It has a more Flipboard style, and is already on the app store for download. The app is not on Android and I doubt that Facebook will get the app on there anytime soon considering the developers are mainly iOS developers. Tell us what you think of the Paper app and Facebook copying the name from another app.
