Vine since its start has been exclusively mobile without a web site. The Twitter owned website only directs you to a Windows, Android or iOS app to view or create Vines. Starting tomorrow, Dec. 20, verified users will be able to register their very own URLs, while everyone else will gain access to the new feature on the 23rd. It appears that Vine may open up a website so people can explore Vines while on the desktop.
To sign up drop by vine.co tomorrow or on the 23rd and register your desired URL, which will appear as “vine.co/yourname.” To stop squatters Vine will reserve verified users and celebrities names. There is no promise that Vine will open up a desktop website but this is one step towards it. Instagram made a similar step when it was building a desktop experience.
