Bigger screen may delay next iPhone, report suggests

Many hardware makers are pushing out phones with bigger and bigger screens, and Apple may finally be giving into peer pressure. According to a report, the next gen iPhone may be delayed as the Cupertino-based company sorts out design changes.

Bloomberg reports that sources semiconductor industry claim the next-generation iPhone — which some assume will be called the iPhone 5S — will feature a 4.3-inch display. The current iPhone model, the iPhone 5, has a 4-inch display. (iPhone models prior to this one had 3.5-inch displays.)

We recently expected the new iPhone to be released in the Fall, but now it points to the end of the year.

  1. I guess Apple have got quite a competition, especially with Samsung. A bigger screensize would be nice. But a smartphone which has too big screen doesn't appeal too much to me. I mean, it's nice to have a decent display for movies and games, but phones should be able to fit well in pockets. My phone's screen is 4.2 inches. It's quite big but I can still use it with one hand (i.e. reach the other side of the screen in portrait mode with my [short] thumb). I reckon the 4.3 inch display should be a ideal size if the bezel is thin.

    • I agree. To me, if a screen size is bigger than 5 inches, its considered a tablet to me. I think Apple should not make a bigger size. Maybe focus on making it faster and thinner, not bigger.

    • I agree! I want a phone with a resonable sized screen as well as an enjoyable display. To me, if the screen is bigger than 5 inches, its a tablet. I agree with you man!

      • hmm… but it is a market that apple haven't gone into yet. Unless they make a iPhone 5L (for large) or something 😛 or they could do what samsung do and have way too much phone models (I guess it works for Samsung but it's sure confusing).
